As we near the Thanksgiving Holiday, please be aware of the Summer Academic Term’s Certification Deadline and Uncertified Effort Write-off Date.  The Critical Certification dates for the current period are as follows:

  • November 18, 2022: PI Certification Deadline
  • November 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm: Deadline to submit SWCT for Hourly Employees
  • November 29, 2022: Deadline to modify SPARs for Salaried Employees and allow one business day for PAR Task/re-certification before Write-Off Date
  • December 1, 2022: Write-Off of Uncertified Effort

These critical dates for the current period and the dates for two future periods are always available on our website.

 

If you have employees in your area leaving the University who are the named PI of a federal award(s), they will need to have a Proxy and/or Designee approved to certify the related effort after their departure. The forms and directions for requesting these assignments are available on our website.

While multiple resources are available in ECC to assist you with monitoring uncertified effort in your area, we strongly encourage the use of the PI Worklist report. The report lists all uncertified sponsored-federal effort for which the grant department is within your area of responsibility and identifies the PI responsible to certify. When requesting a salary cap override, please be sure to include the completed Cost Share Template with your request. Since you will be manually entering cost share percentages on the SPAR, it is important that we are able to verify you are using the correct salary rate and percentages prior to overriding the cap calculator.
