When recording effort in SPAR, Actual Effort should always be a reflection of the time spent on each activity.
Be aware of when effort starts and ends on various sponsored activities in your area. This will allow you to be proactive about Early Account Requests and to end effort when work is completed. This will alleviate the need for 90-Day Requests and the certification of 0% federal lines on effort statements.
Faculty are responsible to be aware of their level of effort on various activities and to report it to their department administrators. Fiscal administrators are never to be the sources of Actual Effort percentages.
RC and Department SPAR Administrators have the ability to grant subset access to SPARs within their area. When doing so, they are responsible to:
- Complete and maintain appropriate access forms.
- Ensure that the prospective Subset SPAR user has completed all mandatory training requirements. Training dates may be confirmed through SPARhelp@cfo.pitt.edu.
- Monitor the ongoing need for the subset relationship and terminate the subset when the business purpose has ended.
