March 2023

If faculty in your area have a less-than-annual appointment and are planning to work outside their appointment period, please process all summer appointment information timely to ensure that payroll is paid in the month the work is performed. This is necessary to maintain accuracy of SPAR payroll distributions and effort reporting information.

The Transactions section of an effort statement provides Lead Effort Coordinators (LECs) with the detail of payroll or cost share entries downloaded to ECC, processing actions by the ECC application, and dates and PI names associated with effort certification. The Project field on the screen does not display the full PRISM 33-digit account number. Hover over an account number to see the full number and project title as a pop up. To analyze transaction activity for any statement, LECs may run the Transaction History report in ECC.

When faculty have questions about effort reporting and certification you can direct them to a variety of resources:

  1. Effort Reporting for Faculty training: training can be taken on-demand 24/7 here.
  2. The University’s Effort Reporting and Certification Policy, available here.
  3. PI reference materials on the FCR website.
  4. The top right hand corner of the ECC Home Page, Links section.
